Ten minutes, well spent
Ten minutes is long enough to get real work done and short enough to start without dreading it. This page opens with the timer already set to 10:00, so you can press start straight away.
Common uses: a quick tidy of one room, a short break away from the screen, timing a test section or reading block, a brainstorm, letting a steak rest or dough prove, or a 10 minute walk to reset your head. Teachers often use it for a quiz or a think-pair-share activity.
Tips
Want a little more or less? Drag the ring forward or back and it snaps to whole minutes. Press F for full screen if you're showing the timer to a group, and keep the tab open; the title shows the time left even while you work elsewhere. For longer focus blocks, try the 25 minute timer or the Pomodoro timer.
Frequently asked questions
Does the 10 minute timer start by itself?
No. It's set and waiting so nothing beeps unexpectedly. Press Start or the space bar when you're ready.
Can I pause and carry on?
Yes. Press Pause at any time and Start again to carry on from where you left off.
Will it keep running if I switch tabs or lock my screen?
Yes. The timer works from your device clock, so it stays accurate in a background tab, and the tab title shows the time left. If your phone locks, the countdown carries on, but some phones delay sound until you unlock, so keep the screen on for anything important.
